Shipping - Canada
Please contact CVAS to receive the necessary importation documents prior to sending samples. For specific questions, contact Sharon at sweav@foragelab.com, who is our foreign shipping specialist.
Information provided by the Shipper
Samples being shipped from Canada to the U.S. are generally not required to be shipped to or clear a US Plant Inspection Station as long as the CVAS Canadian import letter is included with the shipment.
Specific information is needed to obtain clearance from the United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) prior to sending material into the USA. The shipper must register with the USFDA at www.access.fda.gov and obtain a Food Facility Registration number. The CVAS new-account information package contains complete instructions for doing this.
The shipper's USFDA account information must be provided with each shipment. For each type of feed in a shipment, a Prior Notice must be prepared at the USFDA web site. The Prior Notice requires information such as the shipping method, contact information, feed type, and amount of sample being sent. All shipments must have the FDA Food Facility Registration number and the Prior Notice information included with the shipment.
Information Provided by CVAS
The new-account information package will contain the following information which must be provided when shipping each forage sample:
